New Handbill Campaign
by NoRegrets inapparently the jws are doing a new handbill campaign.
they were just at my door and offered it to me with one of their heartless and scripted presentations.
the religion has just become so dumbed down.

Be honest. Am I an abusive Father??
by DATA-DOG ini was angry with my kid for questioning me.
i work, i pay the bills, i provide food, clothing and shelter for them.
instead of respect, i get attitude.

I get the frustration, I've been known to use the line "because I said so, and you don't need another reason" on my kids. However, the speck of dirt thing is a bit too much in my opinion. Your kid, no matter how irritating, is a valuable human being even if he hasn't accomplished much yet.

good to hear all is well in your neck of the woods. We've been busy here too, and I rarely have time to visit this site. The freedom I feel now is wonderful, and I am really enjoying my life.

I'm so sorry you had to waste a perfectly good day listening to that nonsense. Hope you at least got a good dinner out of it.

Holidays are a lot of work, and if I didn't have children I'd have a much simpler celebration. But I cheated my kids out of a decade of family memories, so i'm not going to slack off now.

You can't really hide your sexual orientation unless you live your life completely shut off from the people around you. Being allowed to be honest about yourself is critical to mental health and happiness.

Looking for advice
by Liveandlearn inhello, i've finally been approved here so it's time for my first post.
i got disfellowshipped a few months ago as i was unrepentant in my judicial.
i'd lived with a situtation for a long time.

Your parents are adults. They are choosing for themselves whether to have their hearts broken over your actions. You cannot choose someone else's emotional state. You need to live your life for yourself.

Now I'm not a JW, is it ok for me to...
by Julia Orwell in...drink a lot?
gosh i love wine.
i like a good bottle of wine each night, and i have a high tolerance to alcohol, though i never drank much (except for a couple of times with the vodka, but i don't keep that stuff in the house anymore, way too dangerous) as a jw because getting slightly happy is a 'sin'.

IMO, an entire bottle of wine in one go (even over several hours) is too much if done on a regular basis. Once or twice a year, like when you are on vacation is OK. But weekly or monthly would be too often. But that's just my personal opinion.

Feeling Disfellowshipped
by meep5 inlet me briefly explain my back-story: i grew up in a jw household and was technically a jw until 20 years old.
i stopped attending meetings in 1998 and told my parents i was done in 1999. i'm not sure where i saw my future when i was 19 but i know for a fact i didn't see myself as a "witness" then.
i hated the hypocrisy and the extreme gossip.

It's hard when you are rejected by a parent. It is a huge thing to come out of the Borg and thrive, maybe your wife would understand a little better if she came on here and read some of the experiences.
